This sled was bought new, or nearly new, by a family from Milaca MN. In about 1974 they were moving from their farm and gave the sled to my Dad, it had seen a lot of use and needed repair. At the time, Arctic still had some parts in the salvage department for the old red Cats and my Dad bought a new hood and engine for it. It was then painted and put back together. It was kept around here for a few years, driven a little, and used in a few parades. In October of 1978 my Dad sold it on an auction. In the 2 decades that followed, we often wished that this sled had been kept. A chance phone call to our store in the late 1990s was from a man that said he had bought this sled from my Dad back in the 70s. He said he did not want to sell it but would call me if he ever did. Luckily, he called in 2005 and said he likely would not use it anymore and I could buy it back. We went and picked it up at his farmstead near Dassel MN. There it sat in a shed on a single place trailer that he said was the same trailer he hauled it home on from our place in 1978! In the early 2000s the sled narrowly missed burning up in a shed fire on the farmstead, the hood still shows slight signs of heat damage. Because of its good care the man had given this for over 25 years, it was pretty easy to have it running/operating just fine right after we got it home. It is in need of a seat.
